Steal This Look: A Bath in Green Lava Stone in the Cotswolds

Is enameled lava stone a new trend to watch? “It’s very, very resistant and you can do whatever color you want,” star designer Dorothée Meilichzon told our contributer Morgan, referring to her material of choice for the bathrooms at Cowley Manor Experimental in the Cotswolds. “We’ve carved it to create the sinks. The vanity is important because it’s where you’re going to make up and brush your teeth. So we’re always trying to create something quite surprising there.” (Enameled lava stone is also extremely durable, sustainable, and impervious to water—ideal for a bathroom.)

With enameled lave stone setting the tone, each bath at Cowley Manor is done in a different palette. Today we’re taking a look at this mossy green bath—with similar products, sourced, if you (like us) are hoping to get the look at home.

Materials

Above: French company Pyrolave offers enameled lava stone in 6,000 colors (or in a custom color, if you can’t find what you’re looking for). This colorway is called Oregon. Above: The tiles behind the bath are the Sol Tappeto 3 Tiles from Italian company Ragno, sadly no longer in production but still available from LA Floor Coverings.
