Trend Alert: For the Birds
New year, new shapes. Fish motifs were the unlikely trend of the past few years, and we’re still spotting new examples. But! Lately we’ve noted something new taking flight: simple, graphic, linocut-like silhouettes of birds, swallows, swans, and doves—the latter certainly the symbol we’d like for 2026. Have a look.
Above: Coming soon from Gohar World: Dove Salad Servers, “bird-shaped utensils that make tossing a salad feel like a flight of fancy.”
Above: Danish poster co. PSTR Studio offers a slew of avian-inspired offerings; we like the simple Sea Bird Print by Argentinian-born and France-based artist Matías Larraín.
Above: “This hanging decorative bird in silver is created after a work by the Greek artist Alekos Fassianos. A recurring and emblematic motif in his artistic universe, the bird symbolized freedom—one of the core themes in his work.” The Beneath the Same Sky Bird Decoration is available via Svenskt Tenn.
Above L: A bauble to admire all year long: the Hand-Painted Bird Ornament from Toast. Above R: The Cap Beauty Swan Mug was “created in collaboration with Ali Hewson, a Norfolk-based ceramicist with a background in illustration, these mugs draw inspiration from 17th-century English delftware and her local surroundings.”
Above: The Paloma Table Lamp by Marie Michielssen for Serax features two hand-sculpted doves “inspired by Picasso’s sketches”; it’s available in red, black, and cream.
Above: Speaking of flights of fancy: The White Dove Ceramic Table Ornament is handmade in Italy and available from Monsieur Artisan on Etsy.
Above: New from Ikea: the Bittersöta Duvet Cover and Pillowcases, alight with birds.
Above: Ferm Living’s whimsical bird hooks are hand-carved and hand-painted (and reminiscent of the company’s logo). We like the Lola Bird Hook (left) and the Billie Bird Hook (right).
Above: The 100 percent cotton Passaro Throw features birds by Finland-based artist Olivia Leino—and it’s fully reversible. Available from Slowdown Studio.
