Current Obsessions: The Artist’s Eye

Ahead this weekend? Mended bags, fridge ephemera, vintage dish towels, and other things we’re loving lately. Read on:

Above: Worth a revisit: Annie recently saved this snapshot from Small-Space Solutions: 17 Affordable Tips from an NYC Creative Couple—the pretty glass cabinet and stacking stools still hold up, 10 years later. Photograph by Kate Sears.

• Fridge notes, courtesy of Roman and Williams.
• Two exhibits on Margot’s wish list: a just-opened show of artist-weaver Yumo Yuan’s beguiling silk panels (as admired at Cremer in London). And “Things We Carry”, an exhibition of mended paper bags collected from the daily life of artist Celia Pym.
• And Julie would love to go to this art book popup in Paris, going on now.
• A cottage you can rotate to face the sun (we’d love one for our back garden).
• Ooh, love these dish towel totes and embroidered candle mats from our friend Sanne Hop, available here.
• We’re such fans of the artist Emma Kohlmann—and want everything from her newly expanded tableware collection with Hay.
• Love that artist, archivist, and urban planner Theaster Gates has adopted the last remaining fine china manufacturer in the US.
• Upstate this weekend? You’re invited to On View at Barnegat Barns (wine will be served). Info here.
• Browsing: a new collection by musician Jon Batiste and writer/artist Suleika Jaouad, made “with an almost unreasonable amount of heart (and fringe).”
• Sales alert! Annual site-wide sales happening at Blu Dot and Citizenry.
• “Love a good brooms vignette,” says Fan of this very autumn-y store display.
• ?img index=1 17Truly considered design. LOL.
• Before you put up your Halloween decorations, read Kier’s PSA.
• Pamela Anderson’s gardening outfit is different from ours.
• A reminder to prune judiciously this fall.
• It’s the perfect time to make a sweet rosemary wreath.
• And shopping for spring-blooming bulbs? Kendra has thoughts.
