Pastry Week: Lighting Inspired by Baking, Courtesy of Berdoulat x Feldspar
Dimmed lighting, a fresh-baked scone or slice of cake, maybe a crackling fire: These are the ingredients for a cozy winter. But what about combining them?
Feldspar Studio and Berdoulat hit upon an unlikely mashup when they looked to patisserie—specifically, canelé—for their first lighting collaboration a few years back (see: Object of Desire: Bone China Pendants Inspired by Patisserie). Delicate and subtle rather than twee, the bone china designs feel comfortingly familiar—and delightful once you realize why.
Recently, the studios added a pair of new bakes to the pastry collection, inspired by brioche and that most evocative of pastries, the madeleine. Have a look:

Above: The Berdoulat x Feldspar Madeleine Wall Sconce is “slip-cast in fine bone china, finished with Feldspar’s signature translucent glaze, and assembled with precision hand-cut brass fittings. It is set slightly off the wall to allow for light to spill out surrounding it.” It’s £675 from Berdoulat.

Above: Also on offer: the Berdoulat x Feldspar Studio Brioche Wall Sconce, £675. “Bright white, opaque, and glossy by day and glowing from within by night, it is cast more finely than Feldspar’s usual wares to ensure the light glows from within and shares the characteristic wobbly profile of their main collection.”
